Green Technology is the wave of the future in today's day and age. With a struggling economy, global warming and ozone depletion, it is imperative that we preserve the natural order of things as much as possible. With that being said, there has come about a, not so much as new idea, but instead newly and recently implemented old idea. The use of alternative fuels have always been at debate in our society as well as across the board. However, it wasn't until major damage to our environment was endured, via petroleum, that nation and even worldwide campaigning is taking place for the research and development of alternative fuels. One aspect in the realm of Green Technology that is taking the nation by storm is Bio-Diesel Fuel
With the scarcity of petroleum and rising gas prices, one Green Technology alternative to gassing up those engines has been through the use of Bio-Diesel Fuel. One way at making this wonder fuel is through, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, the recycling of used fryer grease. This means that vegetable oil you use to fry that chicken, or the peanut oil or fryer grease that's used by many restaurants like McDonalds and Jack-in-the-Box. After its use, this grease can be filtered and strained and reused to gas up engines. And because it is 100% bio-degradable, this means that it is even safe to ingest. Although not widely known nor yet accepted, this wonder to alternative fuel proves to be legit when you survey the facts. In an article titled It May Smell like French Fries: Using Bio-Diesel Fuel written by Jay on Associated Content, it was stated that tests results of the biodegradable substance showed that "it produced 80% less carbon dioxide and 100% less sulfur emissions than petroleum based fuels." This alternative fuel is also the only one to past safety tests implemented by the Clean Air Act.
